This past weekend was an incredibly exciting time for hockey in Saugeen Shores. The community celebrated Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada with a visit from three time Olympic Gold Medalist Jennifer Botterill and a CWHL game at the Plex in Port Elgin while also hosting the International Girls Silver Stick Caitlyn Cobean Memorial Tournament.
To kick off the weekend, the Town of Saugeen Shores invited youth in our community to put on their favourite jersey to show their support for hockey in Saugeen Shores – and of course for a chance to win great prizes.
The town received many submissions and the randomly chosen winners are:
· Leaf fans William & Aleigha submitted by Jodi Eagleson (Individual Prize)
· Mme Wright’s grade 2/3 French Immersion class at St. Joseph's School (Class Prize)
The Jersey Day contest was held on Friday, February 5 on the Town of Saugeen Shores, Community Services Facebook page where parents and teachers could post individual or class photos. The prize for Individual submissions was a free 10 pack youth swim card for Centennial Pool and a Hockey PLAY Prize Pack. The class prize was a Swim Party at Centennial Pool and a Hockey PLAY Prize Pack for the entire class.
Congratulations to our winners and thank you to everyone who participated and showed their support for hockey in our community.
