The 2024 Port Elgin Pumpkinfest has come and gone and once again saw Port Elgin's downtown taken over by midway rides, food, vintage cars, stage performances, service club demonstrations and of course giant melons.
The annual festival took place October 4, 5 and 6 and featured attractions such as the Giant Tiger Kiddie Karnival, the Junior Fire Fighters Obstacle Course, an Artisan Craft Show, Master Giant Pumpkin Carving and so much more.
And as always, the Bruce Power International Weight-Off tent saw crowd pleasing giant vegetables, fruits and flowers.
This year saw a new site record for the heaviest pumpkin from Englehart, Ontario's Jeff Warner whose pumpkin weighed in at 1966.5 pounds. Warner also had the largest sunflower face at 26 inches.
Arthur Johnston from St. Thomas, Ontario had the heaviest squash from the weekend at 1471 pounds as well as the longest gourd at 165 inches.
The heaviest field pumpkin from the Saturday and Sunday weigh-off events went to Tiverton's Bob and Elaine Mackenzie at 180 pounds.
The Mackenzies also took the title for the heaviest watermelon at 98 pounds, the heaviest cabbage at 56 pounds and the heaviest bushel gourd at 284.5 pounds.
The heaviest tomato went to Port Elgin's Doug Court at 5.55 pounds. Court also took the top spot for the heaviest marrow coming in at 70 pounds.
John Butler from St. Thomas, Ontario brought the tallest sunflower at 338.5 inches as well as the tallest cornstalk at 298.5 inches.

The food alley had a variety of fares to choose from.
The Port Elgin Curling Club was on hand with curling demonstrations for the whole family to try.
There was no shortage of red at The Corvette Corral.
