Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey Bruce and West Simcoe (BBBSGBWS) has announced their 8th annual Golf Fore Kids' Sake to raise funds for youth mentoring programs.
The 2024 event is set for Saturday, August 17 at Saugeen Golf and Country Club with all proceeds going towards "the mission and vision" of BBBSGBWS, which has tripled in size, reach and impact in three years. A July 9 media release said that BBBSGBWS served 488 youth in 2023.
"The Golf Fore Kids' Sake Tournament promises to be a convivial day of golf and camaraderie," read the release, "an event where play meets social impact."
"By joining us on the greens, participants will play a significant role in making a differences in the lives of children, youth and families while enjoying a day of sport and philanthropy," the release said.
The event will take on a scramble format and is suitable for all levels with a focus on enjoyment and socializing. The day will include a banquet dinner, a silent auction, a WestJet 'Gift of Flight' raffle and multiple prizes including first place, closest to the pin and best team name and outfit.
BBBSGBWS Executive Director Beth Aubrey said the organization firmly believes in the power of collective action and is dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of youth, families and their community.
"Through our initiatives and events like the Golf Fore Kids' Sake Tournament, we strive to create a brighter future for children and youth," Aubrey said. "We hope you can join us at this year's event and support our growing grass-roots charity."
Registration will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 17, with a shotgun start set for 12 noon. Dinner will follow the tournament.
Registration is $150/golfer with registration available for teams of four.
