The Canadian Federation for University Women (CFUW) Southport has donated $700 to three area women's shelters, thanks to contributions from their December 6 Vigil. "Many thanks to the Saugeen Shores community for their generosity," read a February 3 submission from CFUW.
The Vigil takes place each year on the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women to commemorate the anniversary of the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre, during which a lone gunman and anti feminist murdered 14 women and wounded 10 women and four men.
