The 2022 Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation's (SMHF) Light the Way Radiothon, in partnership with 97.9 The Bruce, raised over $200,000.
The seventh annual event once again generated record breaking results, bringing in a total of $215,000 in just 12 hours December 8, raising funds for seven pieces of needed equipment for the Southampton Hospital.
"The Foundation and its board members are completely thrilled by the outpouring of support of this year’s Radiothon but aren’t surprised since the people, businesses, sports clubs and even the kids of Saugeen Shores and the surrounding communities have been overwhelmingly supportive of the Foundation over the years," said SMHF Executive Director Tracy Murray, adding that the Foundation is grateful to having had 97.9 The Bruce once again partner with them.
"Bruce Telecom is also a key partner for this event, supplying and setting up the phone lines to allow people to call in during the Radiothon," said SMHF Board Chair Stacey Catalano.
"The biggest thank you goes out to every person and business that called in or dropped by the station to donate during the event and making it such an amazing success and so much fun," read a recent media release from SMHF.
Light the Way is the Foundation's biggest annual fundraiser and will continue until the end of December. Anyone wishing to donate can do so by returning their donation form, by visiting smhfoundation.ca or by calling or call 519-797-3230 extension 3230.
