light up the holidays

The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre (BCM&CC) is inviting community members to their second annual Light Up the Holidays event on Thursday, December 15 from 5:30 to 7:30pm.

In a BCM&CC media release, during the evening, children will have a chance to meet Santa and Mrs Claus, see their sleigh, as well as write and post a letter to the North Pole.

In addition, attendees can participate in decorating a mini-gingerbread house, making an eco-bird feeder, taking part in a scavenger hunt, or listening to a reading of Charles Dickins’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ aboard the HMS General Hunter.

A carolling singalong will be held in the Bruce Power Theatre, led by guest Erin Milley-Patey, who Museum patrons may remember from her opera performance during the Sonic Sensation exhibit opening this past summer. Visitors will also have an opportunity to see festive juggling performances throughout the night by guest Robbin Darling.

A Holiday Crafters Market will be set up and in the back yard, the Museum’s old schoolhouse and log cabin will be lit up for photo opportunities

Hot drinks, including some holiday favourites, and sweet treats will be available for sale on site from Dizzy Bird and guests will receive a $2 voucher at the door.

This event is free for Museum members. For non members, general admission fees apply. Preregistration is available online or tickets are available at the door.
