Bruce Power has launched their annual online fundraiser with the goal of raising more than $40,000 in cash donations for community toy drives and hamper programs this holiday season.

In a November 14 media release, the fundraiser is organized in conjunction with the United Way of Bruce Grey, is open to employees and the public, and will benefit a number of local organizations including Port Elgin Salvation Army, Paisley Missionary Church, Saugeen First Nation, women's shelters, and other organizations throughout Bruce, Grey and Huron counties.

The fundraiser is open to Bruce Power employees and contractors, as well as the public. Tax receipts will be issued.

If the original goal of $40,000 is exceeded, Bruce Power and the United Way will distribute the extra funds accordingly.

“Our annual holiday toy drive has helped to make the holiday season special for many local families through the various organizations we support,” said Dwight Irwin, Bruce Power’s Manager of Community Relations. “The need locally is once again great, so we encourage everybody to give to their fullest capabilities to ensure these fantastic community organizations can help make the season bright for countless families in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties.”

Donations will be accepted until midnight on November 23. Anyone interested in donating can visit www.brucepowertoydrive.com.

At the time of publishing, nearly $6,000 of the $40,000 goal had been raised.
