The Town of Saugeen Shores has issued a Public Notice to declare land surplus for lease and to advise of the intention to pass a bylaw to confirm surplus and a 50 year lease with 2706913 Ontario Inc.

Council declared surplus by resolution on September 26 the section on Harbour Street illustrated above to support the Cedar Crescent Village development "which aligns with the Town's Waterfront Master Plan and Waterfront Design Study."

The final by-law is set to be approved at the October 11 council meeting.

"This is a necessary step for the Town along with the project’s proponent to register the approved Land Lease," read a September 26 media release from the Town of Saugeen Shores. "While the Town has given the public notice several times at Council meetings, the municipality needed to do this formally after finalizing the Site Works and Servicing Agreement. This is to support registration of the Lease on title. The move does not change the land’s status as publicly owned, nor does it put the land up for sale," the release explained.
