Saugeen Shores Scarecrows presents "Get Stuffed," a fun community event with proceeds going to local food banks.

The event is hosted by the Chantry Island Cham-bettes and is set to run from October 20 to the October 31 with a Donation Day to follow November 1 at the Boathouse in Southampton. Registration deadline is October 10.

Families, businesses and organizations can make a scarecrow and register by emailing saugeenshoresscarecrows@gmail.com by October 10 to be placed on the tour map.

Participants can share a photo of their scarecrows and tag the Saugeen Shores Scarecrows Facebook at facebook.com/saugeenshoresscarecrows and Instagram at instagram.com/saugeenshoresscarecrows.

Maps will be available by donation at select locations across Saugeen Shores beginning on October 15. Locations include Port Elgin Home Hardware, Martin's Home Hardware, Giant Tiger, Southampton Olive Oil Company and Accents. Donations can be made by cheque or cash. Gift cards will also be accepted.

Tables will be set up on Saturday, October 15 from 9am to 1pm and on Sunday, October 16 from 9am to noon at Southampton Foodland and Giant Tiger.

On Saturday, October 22 from 9am to 1pm and on Sunday, October 16 from 9am to noon, tables will be set up at Port Elgin Home Hardware and Martin's Home Hardware.

Tour goers can "treat the scarecrows" with non-perishable food items while they enjoy the tour.

Following a Donation Day event November 1, where participants are asked to bring their collected items to the Boathouse in Southampton between 8am and 8pm, and where the public are also welcome to drop by with any additional donations or food items, all that has been collected will be distributed to Salvation Army Food Bank, Living Hope Food Basket, Saugeen First Nation Food Bank and Saint Vincent de Paul Society Food Bank.
