The Town of Saugeen Shores has made its first of five $50,000 payments toward the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation's (SMHF) Bring Tom to Town campaign.

During the SMHF's annual Radiothon in December 2021, Mayor Luke Charbonneau pledged $250,000 over five years. The campaign aims to bring a Computed TOMography (CT) scanner to the Southampton Hospital.

In a May 11 release from SMHF, the campaign currently sits at 2.35 million, just over three quarters of the way to its $3 million goal.

Mayor Charbonneau presented the cheque to Board Chair Stacey Catalano and CT Campaign Co-Chair Jenny Scongack. "A well-equipped hospital is essential to support the high quality of life that we all enjoy in Saugeen Shores," said Charbonneau. "A new CT scanner will allow Saugeen Memorial to better serve our residents and help us to recruit new primary care providers to practice in our growing community."
