The nomination process has begun in Saugeen Shores for the election of town council and school trustees on October 24.

In a recent release from the Town of Saugeen Shores, the Clerk’s office is accepting nominations during normal business hours until Friday, August 19 at 2pm for the following offices:

Mayor
Deputy Mayor
Vice Deputy Mayor
Port Elgin Ward Councillors (two)
Saugeen Township Councillors (two)
Southampton Ward Councillors (two)
School Trustee for the Bluewater School Board
School Trustee for the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board

Those who wish to submit a nomination for School Trustee for Conseil scolaire Viamonde should submit their nomination papers to the City of Barrie.

Those who wish to submit a nomination for School Trustee for Conseil scolaire catholique Providence should submit nomination papers to the City of Sarnia.

Nominations forms are available at saugeenshores.ca/election. The prescribed filing fee is $200 for the Head of Council and $100 for all other offices. The filing fee is payable by cash, debit, certified cheque, or money order.

Nominations for an office on Council must also have an Endorsement of Nomination signed by at least 25 qualified electors. These electors must be eligible to vote in an election for an office within the municipality if a regular election were held on the day that the person endorses the nomination.

Candidates must sign the nomination and file it in person or by an agent at the hours prescribed above. They can also e-mail election@saugeenshores.ca for questions, or if they require an appointment to file nomination papers.
