Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) is pleased to announce record breaking results from their sixth annual Light the Way Radiothon.

In partnership with 97.9 The Bruce, SMHF held their 12-hour radiothon Thursday, December 9 with a goal to raise $200,000 toward their $3 million Bring Tom to Town campaign. Listeners and community members could call in or visit the station between 6am and 6pm and this morning SMHF announced that their exceeded their goal and raised $251,550.

In a media release from SMHF, Foundation Executive Director Tracy Murray said the Foundation and its board members were "completely thrilled" with the results but weren't surprised by the outpouring of support.

"People really have connected with the Bring Tom to Town campaign and realize the importance and vital need of bringing a Computed TOMography (CT) scanner to Bruce County," said Murray.

The Light the Way Radiothon brings the total raised to just over $1 million since the campaign launched in late October.
