The Town of Saugeen Shores is upgrading the playground equipment at three parks in Port Elgin, as well as designing the future footprint for Summerside Park, a new park located at the north end of Port Elgin.

In an August 3 media release, staff have reviewed proposals from play equipment suppliers, narrowed down the options, and are now looking to the community to help shape the future of Summerside Park.

An online survey will include playground equipment options for Nodwell Park, located at 788 Highland Street in Port Elgin; Waterloo Park, located at 391 Waterloo Street in Port Elgin; JH Robertson Park, located at 639 Pierson Avenue in Port Elgin; and Summerside Park, located at the corner of Bruce Street and Devonshire Street, also in Port Elgin.

“We have an active community in Saugeen Shores. How our parks and playgrounds are designed should reflect the community,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau.

The community can learn more about the projects and fill out the survey at www.saugeenshores.ca/play until August 15 at 11:55pm. The Town is encouraging even the youngest residents to get involved.

Chosen designs will be announced at Saugeen Shores Council as well as online. Construction is expected to begin the Fall of 2021.
