This week, the Nuclear Innovation Institute (NII) welcomed Luke Charbonneau, Mayor of the Town of Saugeen Shores and Bruce County Councillor to its Board of Directors.
In a June 3 NII media release, Charbonneau joins the board in the role of Bruce County Member, replacing former Bruce County Member Anne Eadie. "Charbonneau brings experience in local government and is a strong champion for the nuclear industry and innovation in the region," read the release.
Charbonneau was first elected to Saugeen Shores Council in 2006 and has served as Bruce County Councillor and Mayor of the Town of Saugeen Shores since 2018. He is the former Chair of the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority and Saugeen Shores Police Services Board and currently sits as Chair of the Bruce County Library Board.
“I look forward to serving on the NII Board of Directors. As the Mayor of Saugeen Shores, it has been a pleasure to welcome NII to our community and now I am proud to join the board in my capacity as a Bruce County Councillor,” said Charbonneau. “NII is doing great work to accelerate innovation, embrace new technology and create a low-carbon future.”
