In response to the Government of Ontario’s announcement regarding the provincewide shutdown starting December 26, 2020, The Women’s Centre Grey Bruce wants the community to know that they remain open for women and children fleeing violence and abuse.

In a December 22 media release, as an essential service, Women's Centre will continue to provide 24-hour service including emergency shelter, counselling, crisis line support, safety planning, and advocacy to women and children in the Grey Bruce community.

Women in crisis can be assured that their safety is paramount and that all staff and clients are following Ministry of Children, Community & Social Services and Public Health protocols for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), social distancing, and cleaning and disinfecting. Shelter staff and clients are limiting community outings to essential wellness activities including school, work and family obligations.

"It has been a challenging year for many, but the generosity of our community continues to shine through as seen by the astounding support from individuals, corporations, and community groups who have partnered with us in helping women build safe and sustainable lives free from abuse and violence," read the release. "Individuals wanting to demonstrate their support to ending domestic violence, can do so by joining The Alliance, a group of monthly donors who support The Women’s Centre.
