Like many organizations, volunteers are the building blocks of the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre (BCM&CC) and each fall they are celebrated at an appreciation event. Things may be different this year, however the appreciation felt for volunteers at the Museum remains the same.
In an recent media release from BCM&CC, on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 volunteers were invited to a socially distanced event where they were celebrated and received a special gift. Volunteers and staff were happy to see one another to reminisce on the events of 2020. A video was also created to show the Museum's appreciation, which can be viewed at www.brucemuseum.ca/volunteer.
The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre's volunteers get involved in a variety of ways and in 2019 contributed a combined total of 3,125 hours, including 408 hours by youth. To put this into perspective, that is the equivalent of 1.8 full-time employees working 35 hours a week for a full 52 weeks of the year. These are significant contributions in the execution of programs, events and the general operations of the Museum.
