Grey Bruce OPP were dispatched to a structure fire at the Saugeen Wesley United Church on Highway 21, Saugeen First Nation at 1:31 a.m. September 28. Two additional fires were also reported, The Church of Jesus Christ and Saugeen Fellowship Baptist Church, said a Grey County OPP media release.

Saugeen First Nation Fire Department was assisted by fire fighters from the Port Elgin and Southampton branch of the Saugeen Shores Fire Department.

A few hours later the OPP Canine Unit and OPP Emergency Response Team located and arrested a suspect in a wooded area at Saugeen First Nation. A 49 year old Saugeen First Nation man has been charged with Arson and Mischief over $5,000.
