Please note that the landfill will be closed on Monday, May 18 for Victoria Day.

The landfill will then return to normal operations beginning on Monday, May 25, when residents from any zone will be able to visit the landfill during its normal hours of operation.

The number of vehicles on site will be limited to make sure everyone is following physical distancing rules, staying at least two metres away from. Lineups are to be expected as we reopen this facility.

PROJECTS AT PORT ELGIN MAIN BEACH

The break water construction project at the Port Elgin Main Beach will restart as the provincial orders have been lifted to allow infrastructure projects. This federal project will resume in the coming days.

The demolition of the former Station building will advance as planned. Site clean up has begun and the project will proceed as provincial orders have been lifted to allow municipal projects.

MUNICIPAL OPERATIONS

Town staff will resume operations as permitted by the province. This includes grass cutting, construction projects and infrastructure maintenance.

“Town projects and operations are planning to resume as permitted through the changes to the provincial order,” said Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “I would like to thank the community for their ongoing patience and support during this declared emergency. As provincial orders are lifted, it will take many weeks for maintenance to return to normal levels,” added Charbonneau.

SAUGEEN SHORES HARBOURS

Municipally owned harbours and boat launches remain closed at this time. Town staff will begin installing docks and repairing winter damage at the Port Elgin Harbour in anticipation of the 2020 season. These preparations will take several weeks.

Public access to all Saugeen Shores harbours (Port Elgin Harbour, Southampton Harbour, Chesley Street Docking) is still prohibited including access to winter storage and all launch ramps. In order to ensure safe physical distancing is maintained and everyone’s health and safety is at the forefront we will prepare specific plans for access to winter storage and lift in plans. Further information will be shared in the near future.

TOURIST CAMPS

Tourist Camps remain closed at this time with no access for walkthrough.
