The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Directors announced Friday that the Gran Fondo Lake Huron fundraising event will be cancelled for 2020 "due to the uncertainty in regards to timelines around the COVID-19 pandemic" and measures issued by government and health officials to combat its spread.

"Planning to host a gathering of over 1,000 people in a time when public gatherings may still be banned for months to come would contradict the values of the Foundation, in which we work to support the health of our community, residents and visitors," read a April 24 media release, adding that Gran Fondo Lake Huron will return bigger, better and stronger in 2021.

"We look forward to welcoming you all back to enjoy this amazing day of riding, entertainment and fundraising," read the release.
