Saugeen Shores Police Service (SSPS) is conducting a Community Satisfaction Survey to better understand how it can serve the community more effectively and work with partners with a goal of delivering a safer environment for all residents. In a SSPS media release, the survey allows the police service to explore ways in which community members experience contact with and view the efforts of SSPS.

"Your cooperation is important to ensure that the information collected in this survey is as accurate as possible," read the release. "The survey is completely voluntary, confidential and it does not require your name or signature. The Saugeen Shores Police Service will use the information from this survey for strategic planning in the 2020 Saugeen Shores Police Business Plan," the release continued.

The survey asks for demographic information including limited gender options (male or female), age and location, length of time in Saugeen Shores, working status, safety concerns and various questions concerning interactions and experience with police.

The release stated that research indicates that people who have a high level of confidence in the police are more likely to report victimization, come forward with information to assist cases and cooperate with the police.

SSPS are asking for the community's "candid and thoughtful" reply in order to help with their evaluation and said that the response will be treated with the "utmost confidentiality."

"Your comments will help us make improvements to our existing efforts and make new crime prevention plans if needed," read the release.

The survey will also be mailed out to various residents in Saugeen Shores and after the results are compiled and tabulated, a report will be issued.
