A special Committee of Whole meeting has been called for Monday, December 16 to discuss the Waterfront Revitalization Project.

The meeting is set to take place at the Rotary Hall at 6:30 p.m.

The Port Elgin Beach Preservers (PEBP) are asking for another public forum prior to Saugeen Shores Council voting on the proposed project and that the decision be deferred until Spring.

From a letter to Mayor Luke Charbonneau, the PEBP said that regardless of the outcome of a vote expected in January, the people of Saugeen Shores deserve the right to be heard on the proposed lease.

In a December 9 email to Saugeen Shores Hub, Saugeen Shores CAO David Smith said that council approval is required in order to change any procedural rules related to Committee of Whole meetings, further explaining that the current by-law allows for 15 minutes of Open Forum, at a maximum of three minutes per speaker, as well as three pre registered delegations.

"Council will be determining this evening whether there will be any changes to the [December] 16th meeting," Smith said.
