DECEMBER 16, 2019 UPDATE: Following video evidence, the suspect was identified and a thorough investigation into the event was completed by the Criminal Investigations and Saugeen Shores Police. After reviewing the evidence and interviewing the suspect, Saugeen Shores Police have concluded that no criminal charges will be laid and that there is no risk to public safety.

Saugeen Shores Police have reported a male allegedly approaching two young girls in Port Elgin Saturday.

In a Saugeen Shores Police media release, at approximately 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon, November 2, two young girls were walking in Port Elgin and reported being approached by a man who asked them to get into his vehicle. The girls denied the request but the vehicle continued to drive by them and the girls subsequently took refuge in a local business.

The girls waited several minutes before leaving the business but again saw the driver and the truck. They made their way home and told their parents. Initially the truck was described as possibly a white Ford F150 with an extended cab. In a December 4 update,  Saugeen Shores Police reported that CID detectives have uncovered surveillance video and now believe the vehicle to be a 2008 to 2013 white Chevrolet Silverado with an extended cab, running boards, white trim, rear tinted windows and a loud exhaust.

The man is described as a white male, 20 to 40 years old.

The Saugeen Shores Police are asking anyone who observes any suspicious activity to call 519-832-2500 or 911 if it is an emergency.
