On July 10 at approximately 7:30 p.m. officers were called to attend an apartment in Port Elgin in regards to a stabbing that had just occurred.
In a July 12 media release from Saugeen Shores Police, officers arrived on scene and located a man who had sustained injuries from a stab wound to his leg. The man stated that a woman who was known to him had become enraged and stabbed him once with a four inch blade.
With a description of the woman, officers located her a short distance away and placed her under arrest. An investigation revealed that the woman was on a probation order that prohibited her from contacting or communicating with the victim. The victim was transported to the hospital where he was treated for his wound and released.
A 36 year old woman of no fixed address has been charged with aggravated assault, weapons dangerous, one count of breach of probation, contact order with victim and one count of breach of probation, keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
