Barely visible through the fog and mist on Thursday, June 13 the crew at Colorworks Port Elgin braved an unpredictably cold and wet day to polish up cars, flip burgers and connect with the community, all in the name of cancer research. Burgers and hotdogs were donated by Port Elgin's M&M Meats while the pop, water and buns were provided by Rowland’s Independent Grocer.

Their efforts paid off, with over $800 raised for Dr Michael Ohh’s Cancer Research Laboratory at the University of Toronto. Dr Ohh’s studies focus on the molecular mechanisms of cancer and have been described as “pioneering” and “paradigm-shifting” work.

Colorworks Canada CEO Kevin Carter was on location to support the store's first ever Colorworks Care Day car wash and barbecue. With respect to the weather, Carter said he’d been asked multiple times why he hadn’t rescheduled the event, to which he replied, “Cancer doesn’t take a day off, neither do we.”

There are 15 Colorworks Autobody Centers across Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. To date, the combined efforts of all 15 stores has raised over $60,000.
