This spring the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre (BCM&CC) and Bruce County Public Library have partnered to bring “The Book Nook” to Bruce County Museum.

In a joint media release, visitors can discover and explore a variety of reading materials at the BCM&CC in a welcoming space provided by the Bruce County Public Library. The book selections are related to the museum's permanent exhibits, including local Anishinaabe culture, settler heritage and more. For the summer a selection of the books included will focus on the feature family exhibit ‘Kids Celebrate!’ which highlights the beauty of many cultural celebrations around the globe. The collection of books covers a variety of interests for all ages and abilities.

“The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre looks to create partnerships that enhance community programming,” said Cathy McGirr, Director of Museum & Cultural Services. "Working with our colleagues in the Bruce County Public Library is a natural fit to deliver this particular program," she said.

“The Bruce County Public Library is happy to partner in this initiative with the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre," said Grace Dawson, Interim Director of Library Services. "The ‘Book Nook’ project represents another effective means for providing families and the community with increased access to materials and information," she said.

The space provides parents, grandparents and caregivers another opportunity in the museum to connect with their children or grandchildren to share a special moment or for caregivers to take some time and relax. If visitors find something that they just can’t put down, they can borrow their selection and return it to any Bruce County Public Library Branch.

This project was made possible by the generous support of Saugeen Shores Family Eye Care. The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
