Beginning June 29, the SS Trolley will run seven days a week, with some exceptions, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce summer trolley service, the SS Trolley, returns this summer, connecting passengers to Port Elgin and Southampton beginning Saturday, June 29.

In a Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce media release, running seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., June 29 through September 2 with some exceptions, the 10-stop route costs just $5 to board and gives riders all day access. Kids under 5 are free. Both visitors and residents can take advantage of hop on, hop off privileges and be on the fast track to the museum, shops, festivals and other fun events without using personal vehicles.

"The SS Trolley loops is a great way for people to familiarize themselves with our beautiful and unique community and its many offerings," said Kimberley Inniss-Petersen, Chamber Executive Director. "New to 2019 is a narrated audio tour that will provide riders with an informative, engaging overview of the area’s history as told by local story tellers," she said.

Attractions along the route include the Bruce County Museum, Port Elgin Tourist Camp, several beach access points, walking trails, scenic look-outs and picnic areas. The route also includes stops at both downtowns with many restaurants, shops, spas and salons.

With convenient stops across Port Elgin and Southampton, the service offers affordable and user-friendly public transportation to all points of interest. “We're looking forward to another successful year, thanks to the support from our community partners,” said Inniss-Petersen.

Operated by the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce, the privately funded service is made possible with the support from Chamber partners including Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre, Downtown Port Elgin, Southampton BIA, the Town of Saugeen Shores and Bruce Power. Additional support comes from the many advertisers and sponsors such as Hatch, Promation, Lakeside Process Controls and many others. Sponsorships and advertisement opportunities are still available. The Trolley is also available for short term rentals for community and school events.
