This year, the youth group planting trees for the Saugeen Shores Tree Sale will be the Georgian Bay Nordic (GBN) Ski Team. In an April 2 media release, GBN is a cross-country ski team located at Sawmills Trails in Hepworth.
Established in 1990, the club has been encouraging and developing young athletes for more than 25 years. Scores of young people between the ages of 10 and 18 have participated in a meaningful way and discovered a lifelong passion for skiing and outdoor adventure activities. Many of these youth have gone onto compete at the regional, provincial, national and international level. “We pride ourselves on building character, skills, resolve and strive to be ‘a fellowship of skiers in pursuit of excellence,’” said Keith Day, Nordic Ski Coach.
The Saugeen Shores Tree Sale is working with GBN to offer delivery at a cost of $25 per household and tree planting for $25 per tree. Residents can sign up for planting and/or delivery at the time of ordering.
“We at Trees For Saugeen are excited to be working with this local youth group to bring this year’s varied selection of trees to the residents of Saugeen Shores," said Tracy Lambert, President of SauGreen. "Please consider having your tree delivered and/or planted by the GBN Team," she said.
“Our partnership with Everest Nurseries and the Town of Saugeen Shores, with funding from Bruce Power, is a great community program to green our urban environment," said Lambert.
