Port Elgin man wins $250,000

Maximino Hernandez

Maximino Hernandez of Port Elgin is celebrating after winning a $250,000 top prize with Instant Sonic Multiplier.

"This is my first big win. I enjoy playing the $10 Instant games,” said Hernandez in an OLG media release. Hernandez is a 76-year-old retired nuclear operator for Ontario Power.

After scratching his ticket, Maximino went to the retailer and discovered his win. “I had a big smile but didn’t tell anyone except the family," he joked.

The married father of two sons plans on sharing some of the funds with family and saving the rest.

"There are no big changes in store for me," he said. "I’ve been retired for 18 years but this win will really help my family a lot."

The winning ticket was purchased at Ralph’s Port Elgin on Goderich Street in Port Elgin.
