Port Elgin’s Raymond Tomlison is the 2018 recipient of the Sally Hunt Volunteer Award presented by Port Elgin Pumpkinfest.
Tomlinson has been volunteering at the giant vegetable event for the past seven years and his hard work and willingness to help has been noticed by event organizers Connie Barker and Joanne Robbins.
The award is special to Pumpkinfest as it is named after the late Sally Hunt of Port Elgin who ran the festival for many years and was devoted to the volunteers who have helped make the event a success.
Barker jokingly said Port Elgin Pumpkinfest could use 30 more volunteers like Tomlinson as he is always up to the task. Tomlinson was chosen as the recipient after other volunteers put his name forward.
Previous winners of the Sally Hunt Volunteer Award are Harmony Neill (2017) and Alexandre Derosby (inaugural 2016).
