saugeen shores storm

Storm Pee Wee teams will come together for a game of road hockey December 13, all for a good cause.

In support of Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation's (SMHF) Light the Way campaign and in conjunction with 98 the Beach's 12 hour radiothon, Light the Way Day, Storm Pee Wee Girls HL and Peewee Boys LL#2 teams will mix to play the good ol' hockey game with a ceremonial puck drop by Deputy Mayor Don Matheson taking place at 4:30 p.m.

The game will take place at 392 Waterloo Street.

The players have been raising money in person and online at lightthewaycampaign.ca. Anyone interested in making a donation on behalf of the Pee Wee teams can do so through lightthewaycampaign.ca with a mention of "Pee Wee Hockey." Donations can also be made, with the same "Pee Wee Hockey" mention to 519-832-GIVE (4483).

And if they have any gently used coats they are willing part with, spectators to the game December 13 are also asked to bring them to help those in need this chilly time of year.

The game is part of the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup where the best team could win $100,000 for their charity.

Editor's Note: This story originally stated that Vice-Deputy Mayor Mike Myatt was doing the puck drop when in fact it was Deputy Mayor Don Matheson. The information has been corrected above.
