Saugeen Shores Police Service Food Drive an overwhelming success

Officers and auxiliary members from the Saugeen Shores Police Service were on hand at Rowland’s Independent Grocer December 8 collecting food items and donations for the Salvation Army Food Bank.

Officers and auxiliary members from Saugeen Shores Police Service were stationed at Rowland’s Independent Grocer on Saturday, December 8 for their annual Food Drive collecting food and cash donations on behalf of the Salvation Army Food Bank.

Pre-packaged food bags which shoppers could purchase for $15 were a hot ticket item that packed the officers' cruiser. The pre-packed bags included: fruit cocktail, jam, pancake mix, crackers, cookies, and syrup.

Saugeen Shores Police report this year's Food Drive was an overwhelming success.

“The citizens of Saugeen Shores never disappoint and consistently step up to help those in need”, said Inspector Kevin Zettel in a December 10 media release.

In total, 1,606 pounds of food was collected, $295 in gift cards and $2,704.20 in cash.
