The Southampton Legion presented a $1,000 donation to the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre October 25.

"We're delighted to be able to distribute funds raised right back into the community and to good causes such as this one," said President John Willetts in a Southampton Legion media release.

"The WW1 display at the museum is compelling and serves as a hands on educational opportunity as well as a chance to start a discussion at home about the wars and perhaps share the stories of how their friends and family served," he added, calling it "a real opportunity for remembrance."

The Southampton Legion Branch 155 is also the proud to present of ‘A Time to Remember: 100th Anniversary of Armistice’ which will be held at the museum on Saturday, November 10 when special guest Mat Johnson will present a special lecture on this important historical event, followed by a concert of wartime music by the Charlie Bell Trio. This event runs from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Doors and a cash bar open at 1:00 p.m. The cost is $8 plus HST for members, $12 plus HST for non-members and veterans are free.

The Poppy Campaign got underway on Friday, October 26. Please remember to pick up a poppy, buy a wreath or come by the Southampton Legion and make a donation to Branch 155.
