The County of Bruce has been completing rehabilitation work on Mill Creek Bridge located on Bruce County Road 17 at the east end of Port Elgin. In an August 29 Bruce County media release, the work includes the replacement of the super-structure of the bridge as well as the additions of sidewalk and improved lighting.

In correspondence from the County, the opening of the Mill Creek Bridge has been delayed until the middle of September instead of the previously end of August target.

Additional delays were encountered due to inclement weather and the need to stop work on the bridge while a new gas distribution line was installed under the creek at the bridge site.

Bruce County appreciates the patience of affected residents, visitors and businesses while this critical work to improve public safety closes the road.
