A section of the Port Elgin Main Beach will be closed to the public on Saturday, July 21 as Bruce Power prepares for its Block Party fireworks scheduled for that evening.
In a Town of Saugeen Shores media release, an area of the beach between the Beach House washrooms and Beachside Cafe (west of the wooden boardwalk) will be closed beginning at 8 a.m. to enable fireworks technicians to set up. This perimeter will be expanded at 8 p.m. to ensure public safety during the fireworks display.
The washrooms and Beachside Cafe will remain accessible all day. The Beachside Cafe parking lot and parking spaces beside the beach volleyball courts will be available until 8 p.m.
Barricades and signage will be set up around the restricted area. The public is reminded that the fireworks can be viewed from many locations including the harbour pier and promenade, North Shore Park, the flea market area, and Gobles Grove Beach.
