The Port Elgin Rotary Club presented $5,000 to Port Elgin Splash Pad Committee member Lisa Billings May 1 at the Queen’s Bar & Grill. The funds are the second instalment of a three year $15,000 pledge towards the splash pad in Port Elgin's North Shore Park.

It was a busy day for Port Elgin Rotary Club members during their May 1 gathering at the Queen’s Bar & Grill as the Club presented their second of three instalments to the Port Elgin Splash Pad Committee, while also receiving funds from an April Escape Room event.
The Port Elgin Splash Pad received $5,000 from the Port Elgin Rotary Club, who had pledged pledged $15,000 over three years, the first instalment presented in 2017.
Following the second annual Escape Room event, held at Queen’s Bar & Grill April 13 and 14, organizers Rob Fawcett and Phillip Craig donated $1,250 to the Rotary Club with funds going towards youth related initiatives.
Following the cheque presentations, Rotary Club President Rob Dunlop made note to congratulate 9 year old Ewan Dennison of Port Elgin, who was in attendance, for raising approximately $1,600 for the renovations at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. Ewan said that following a presentation to the Club about why he was raising money for the hospital and asking for donations in leu of birthday gifts he was able to collect the funds. Ewan said that the hospital was a special place for him during his cleft palate surgeries and wanted to give back.
Both the Port Elgin and the Southampton splash pads will turn on their faucets beginning on weekends in June and seven days a week come July and August.
Escape room organizers, Phillip Craig and Rob Fawcett; and Pier Donnini, owner of Queen’s Bar & Grill, presented Port Elgin Rotary President Rob Dunlop with $1,250 which was raised from an April Escape Room event.
Nine year old Ewan Dennison was congratulated for raising $1,600 for Sick Kid’s Hospital in Toronto, May 1, at the Queen’s Bar & Grill.
