Saugeen Shores Spring Cleaning Week, April 21 to 28, saw many community groups and families doing their part to create cleaner communities. Having put out a call to interested parties, The Town of Saugeen Shores provided gloves and bags, and disposed of the collected trash. The first 150 people who signed up for Spring Cleaning Week received a free t-shirt.
Town staff also spruced up the area surrounding the Plex when they took part in a 20-minute makeover that played into a garbage scavenger hunt that saw aluminum cans worth 1 point each, and used dog waste bags and articles of clothing worth 10 points. Makeover winners were Shanna Reid and Randi Martin.
Volunteers from Skyline Living embraced the wet weather while helping cleanup the area around Waterloo Street in Port Elgin April 25.
Snow on the ground was a contributing factor for community groups to start their cleaning later in the week.
