St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Port Elgin is hosting this year’s World Day of Prayer on Friday, March 2 at 2 p.m.
The ladies of the Republic of Suriname have prepared the worship service which will be used by churches around the world. The theme for this year is “All God’s Creation Is Very Good”, reflecting the pristine tropical rain forests that cover 90 percent of Suriname. Part of the Guianas, Suriname is an ecological region of the Amazon and boasts great diversity and a warm and humid climate.
The Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada (WICC) is known as the home of “World Day of Prayer Canada”. In 1918, WICC was born to bring women from all churches together in prayer and action, and this Day of Prayer is a beginning to prayers and action throughout the year.
Everyone is welcome to join in at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 920 Wellington Street Port Elgin.
