Bruce Power is assisting local food banks and Christmas hamper programs this holiday season.
From a Bruce Power media release, the company is donating over $50,000 to 25 food bank and Christmas hamper programs across Bruce, Grey and Huron counties, including the Saugeen First Nation and Neyaashiinigmiing, Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation.
“Our food banks and hamper programs do incredible work in the community, allowing as many families as possible to experience all the joys the season brings,” said James Scongack, Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Environment. “We are proud to support these grassroots organizations, which are so integral to communities across Bruce, Grey and Huron counties.”
This contribution was funded through Bruce Power’s Community Investment and Sponsorship Program. In 2017, the fund contributed $2 million to regional non-profit organizations, events and Indigenous and environmental initiatives, while supporting dozens of local students through various scholarship programs.
Also in 2017, Bruce Power, our employees, unions and suppliers helped raise and contribute the first $535,000 of our three-year, $1.6 million pledge to the United Way of Bruce Grey in support of their important work across the region.
