Saugeen Shores Fire Chief Phil Eagleson characterized a fire in an unoccupied Goderich Street home Monday morning as “rapidly evolving.”
Just before 8:30 a.m. on December 11 firefighters from both the Port Elgin and Southampton detachments of the Saugeen Shores Fire Department were called to the scene.
“This is a challenging older building fire with multiple additions and roof lines,” said Eagleson December 11. “Firefighters were able to keep the fire [contained] on the area of origin,” he added.
Goderich Street remained closed from Gustavus Street to Catherine Street until just before 11 a.m.
