Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS) hosted a presentation by MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) Canada November 8 that focused on the effects impaired driving has on everyone and how we can all prevent it by spreading awareness and taking responsibility.

The presentation that traditionally has focussed on alcohol took a turn this year pulling attention towards how driving high can also lead to deadly crashes. Out of all fatal accidents caused by impaired driving 24.1 percent of people responsible test positive for illicit drugs with marijuana being the most prominent.

Information shared with students offered suggestions on how to prevent friends, or anyone for that matter, from driving while impaired, as well as showing the raw effects impaired driving can have a community or family involved.
