From a November 12 media release, some time during the early morning hours on November 10, a person(s) used a rock to smash the front display window of the jewellery store. Items were stolen from the display area. There was no further entry into the store. Police are still working with the owner to obtain a complete list of the stolen items.
Examination was conducted at the scene by a Saugeen Shores Police Service’s Scenes of Crime officer and possible DNA evidence has been collected.
At the time of the incident areas of Port Elgin, including the downtown core, were dealing with a power outage caused by a tree coming down on electrical lines in the area of Goderich and River Street.
