Wearing Paint the Town Purple t-shirts and a variety other purple attire, supporters gathered at Port Elgin's Main Beach for a group photo, August 31 as part of the Liv-A-Little Foundation's annual Paint the Town Purple awareness campaign.

The month long campaign that runs in August of each year saw a sea of purple wash over Saugeen Shores bringing awareness to Cystinosis, a life-threatening disease that afflicts roughly 75 children and young adults in Canada; including Saugeen Shores' Olivia Little.

“We get such great support,” said Liv-A-Little President and Olivia's mom, Erin Little, adding that the group photo came about as they wanted to bring something new to the August campaign. “It was another way of spreading awareness. It's something different and people ask questions.”

Also new to the campaign this year were purple t-shirts from Gord’s Pro Shop & Imprints in Port Elgin, proceeds going back to the Liv-a-Little Foundation.

Next up for the Littles is their annual fundraiser, Swing, Shoot & Liv Golf Classic, to be held September 16 at Saugeen Golf Club in Port Elgin.
