The Saugeen Shores Celebrates Canada’s 150th Committee announced earlier this month the winner of their Canada 150 50/50 draw.
In partnership with the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce and the Canada 150th Committee, the draw was run by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 155 Southampton as part of the Saugeen Shores Canada 150th celebrations.
The 50/50 tickets were sold from June 30 to July 8 with the ticket sales reaching $2,000. The winning ticket, which was drawn at the Canada 150th Celebration Tent on the Port Elgin Main Beach July 8 had one lucky winner claim a $1,000 prize. Judi Blenkhorn from Hamilton, Ontario and a summer resident of Southampton’s Holiday Park claimed her prize August 2 from the Southampton Legion President John Willetts and Heather Lorenz, Canada 150th Committee Administrative Coordinator.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 155 Southampton donated the 50/50 draw proceeds back to the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce and the Canada 150th Committee to help cover some of the costs of the Canada Day fireworks show.
