SFN 560In a letter to Saugeen Shores dated June 20 from Saugeen First Nation (SFN), Chief Lester Anoquot stated that the community’s policing needs will continue to be provided by the Ontario Provincial Police.

The letter stated that the decision “has been made abundantly clear by the community’s overwhelming desire to stay with current regional policing.”

Deputy Mayor Luke Charbonneau said he was disappointed but that Saugeen Shores Police Service (SSPS) “remains interested in and dedicated to responding and to assisting the OPP at Saugeen First Nation whenever called upon” and that they are “certainly interested in any partnership that the people of Saugeen First Nation may be interested in in the future.”
