G.C. Huston Public School is proud to present a special guest on Wednesday, May 3.

David Bouchard is an author, story teller and dynamic public speaker and his books include “The Great Law Kayaneren’kó:wa”, “Seven Sacred Teachings Niizhwaaswi gagiikwewin” and “I am Raven.”

Bouchard speaks to educators, parents and students about the value of stories and the importance of reading and he works to inspire educators and parents to share the most valuable gifts they can give our youth.

His books are beautifully illustrated and their stories touch the hearts of adults and children alike.

Bouchard is Métis and grew up knowing very little about his Métis roots. As an adult, he has made a point of learning about his heritage and now speaks on Aboriginal related successes and challenges. As well, he willingly shares his own learning difficulties and talks about the roadblocks that he faced as a student. Bouchard demonstrates to his audience how these challenges led him to become an educator.

Through his captivating approach, Bouchard inspires children and adults to read, to write and to learn.

Community members are welcome to this free event which will take place from 6:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. and G.C. Huston will have supervised playground activities for the children so parents can enjoy the presentation uninterrupted.
