WHSBG again asks: Are you man enough?

walk gblc kinsmenWalkers stepped in and stepped up to champion the end of violence against women during the 2016 Women's House Serving Bruce and Grey's Walk a Mile in her Shoes event.

On May 28 in Port Elgin, beginning at the Queen’s Bar & Grill, an ever-increasing number of men are expected to join in the annual Walk a Mile in her Shoes event to speak out against rape, sexual assault and gender-based violence against women.

The annual provides a unique and fun opportunity to bring attention to a very serious subject, raise funds for local women’s shelters and be part of an international movement to end violence against women.

Registration is set to begin at noon with opening ceremonies getting underway at 1 p.m.

One in every four women is abused. That means someone you know or someone you care about has been or may become a victim of abuse. It may be your mother, your sister, your friend, one of your employees or co-workers or your daughter. Seventy-five percent of Canadian men feel it is important to speak out against gender based violence, many of whom choose to do so through the annual Walk a Mile event, not just talking the talk but walking the walk donning red high heeled shoes.

Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey (WHSBG) is a high-security shelter for abused women and their children. They are always open, providing emergency and short term shelter, counselling and support; all free of charge.

Funds raised from Walk a Mile in Her Shoes ensure shelter services remain open and free of charge, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Participants are able to register as an individual or as a team.
