Port Elgin’s Seamus Pinfield, a first year Nuclear Engineering student at Oshawa’s University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) was recently recognized by UOIT’s athletic department for receiving the highest GPA 4.25 (highest 4.3) amongst the University’s male athletes.

Pinfield, a curler for UOIT, recently graduated from Saugeen District Secondary School, where he also curled for the Royals for four years and for the Port Elgin Curling Club during the 2014 and 2015 season. During an award ceremony March 28, Pinfield was awarded with the Bob Baun Scholarship which is given to students who show high performance and dedication in academic and athletic pursuits. He will complete his first year April 20 and return to Port Elgin for the summer season.
