Santa's Elves have been busy preparing for the fifth annual Community Christmas Eve Dinner at the Living Hope Centre in Maple Square Mall, Port Elgin.
The meal is free and open to everyone. “The whole community is welcome to come for Christmas Eve dinner,” said Pastor Bob Cotie of the Living Hope Centre. The meal is set to be served at 5 p.m.
Pier Donnini, owner of The Queen's Bar & Grill in Port Elgin will be providing the meal consisting of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, baked pasta, bread and butter, coleslaw, salad and pie; with an added treat for any kids in attendance.
“We fed about 250 last year,” said Donnini, adding that they will also provide a delivery service throughout Saugeen Shores and Saugeen First Nation “for those that have no transportation or cannot leave their homes, like the elderly.” Donnini said that last year approximately 50 meals were delivered to people’s homes.
“It's a community event with many community volunteers,” said Donnini, praising the volunteers who lend a hand. “Everyone is invited,” he said.
For those unable to attend and want to arrange delivery are asked to call 519-832-6331 by December 21.
