The Lipstick Ladies of Saugeen Shores raised $1,550 for former Saugeen Shores resident Stephanie Reidpath (Cole), who is battling cancer, during a fundraising dinner at the Port Elgin Curling Club December.

The fundraiser was the second event hosted by the Lipstick Ladies after forming in 2015, during a time of healing after the passing of their beloved friend Nicole (Nikki) Marlowe.

A home-made dinner, cooked by Bernice Ribey, was served buffet style to 40 women from as far away as Sarnia with local businesses and individuals donating items for the silent auction. Photos with Santa Claus provided both funds as well as entertainment, and even Lipstick Ladies apparel was available to purchase.

A 50/50 draw was held with winner Laura Ashman donating her winnings back to the cause. The bartender was so touched by the stories told by Reidpath’s friend, Libby Thaw, that she also donated her evening’s tips.

Libby, her husband Ray and Stephanie Reidpath were part of a trio called the Checkered Eye, and would preform and various establishments around Saugeen Shores and Kincardine. Reidpath was also part of the band, Big Bad Wolf, and for eight years organized the Tunes for Toys gift fundraisers.
