A record breaking 1,018 tickets were sold for the 8th annual Chantry Island Cham-bette Christmas Tour of Homes, that took place November 11 and 12.
Six homes throughout Saugeen Shores opened their doors and invited decorators, each volunteering their time, to give the homes a special touch of seasonal charm.
Proceeds from the Tour will go towards local charities such as Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation and Caitlyn Cobean’s Community Crusaders in affiliation with the Tara Boom Houston Children’s Foundation.
In 2015, following a successful Home Tour that saw 800 tickets purchased, the Cham-bettes donated $16,000 to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, and to date have donated over $50,000.
Cham-bette and member of the Home Tour Committee, Martha Bennett thanked homeowners, decorators, merchants, businesses, and without a doubt their volunteers, as otherwise the event would not be possible. Bennett said that they were fortunate to have 120 volunteers this year.
“A special thank you to all the people that came out to support us this year by going on the Home Tour, we hoped you enjoyed it, and the weather was certainly on our side,” said Bennett.
The Cham-bettes next event, a Christmas Garage Sale, will take place the morning of November 26 inside the Southampton Boat House. Donations of gently used Christmas decorations will be accepted November 25 from 7 to 8 p.m.
